Law and Order (Tonight Character)

I have a page with law enforcement, so I needed uniforms.

In 2133, governance is explicitly in the hands of corporations and their board members determine the laws that apply on their properties. Conventionally, the application of these laws are split between ‘the Law’, a combination of the roles of detective, lawyer, judge, and jury, who know and interpret the law and decide how it will be applied on coportate property, and ‘the Order’, highly trained enforcers and gruntpeople with different specialties, who do the bidding of the Law. Law and Order essentially function as a cultish arm of the corporation.

The Order have one uniform consisting of a jumpsuit, gloves, a gun harness, and steel enforced boots. The standard way of wearing the jumpsuit is to tuck the pants into the boots and have the sleeves rolled up to under the elbow. They all carry two guns and they shave their heads. They have diamond shaped tags and diamond shaped pins to indicate their rank.

The Law have variations of their uniform that typically includes complete coverage from neck to toe, boots, gloves, sharp shoulder pads, a top with a length reaching the knee or below, silver borders, and silver buttons. They all carry a hidden knife on them. They have oval shaped tags and circular pins to indicate their rank.

They both wear the computer bracelet things that I haven’t thought too much about.

Their faces will not be shown in the comic so I just blacked out their faces and didn’t fuss over that.

Cordelia (Tonight Comic Character)

Cordelia is a 36 year old single person living in the year 2133. Her nickname is Del. She is around 5’5” with light muted pink hair, piercings, and tattoos. Her left eye is a very light pink. Her right eye is biotic, which is a mandatory procedure for her work. She has freckles across the bridge of her nose and cheeks. She won’t be wearing clothing in the comic, but I drew a version with her regular styling for characterization purposes.

Her tattoos include a heart and dagger on the left side of her pelvis, a spider’s web on her centre sternum, a tooth on the middle finger of her right hand, a lit matchstick on the inner side of her upper right arm, a mystic eye on the outside of her upper right forearm, a moon and stars on the left side of her chest, a leaf on the side of the top of her left hand, a small open safety pin behind her left heel, and a pair of cherries on the left side of her lower back.

Her piercings include a septum ring, both nostrils, both cheeks, nose bridge, upper left cheek, and stretched earlobes.

Her style preferences include accessories made of scrap items like wires and pieces of plastic and metal. Her “signature look” includes an oversized coat in bold fabrics (like fur, plastic, velvet, heavy wool), something simple, tight, and revealing underneath (thin stretchy fabrics), and a boot of some sort. She does not ever wear any kind of undergarment.

Like most employed people, she is confined to a corporate high rise where she lives and works in a small apartment. Her job entails moderating AI interactions on a mental health care app. She works 12 hours per day, 6 days per week, and she is paid with modest lodgings, a basic meal plan, and a small consumption allowance of 3 tokens per day, which is a very small amount.

Del’s hobbies focus on old media, including nu metal, Ink Master (she’s such a huge fan that she figured out how to make her own tattoo gun), Metroid porn, and the podcast Old Gods of Appalachia. She has a sarcastic humour and a general cynicism that puts most people off, even though the average person is equally cynical. She is very confident but also very disillusioned, a combination that has made a her a brutally honest and stubborn person. She is a heavy user of hallucinogens and is insatiably promiscuous. She has a handful of acquiatinances who share her media consumption patterns and she is quite popular on the intimacy scheduling apps, but she feels quite solitary and disconnected from others in her general life, which is the absolute norm in 2133.
